GoblinThe Magic of Goblintown NFT Artwork in ‘Only Up’ Game Becomes Twitch’s Current Sensation
Over the online video platform Twitch, a brand-new yet weird independent game is getting a lot of attention. League of Legends and Valorant generally rule the platform and keep the audience engaged with their thrilling content, but over the past few days, a new game dubbed “Only Up” has been attracting visitors. Maybe, this is because the game incorporates a distinctive collection of artwork from an NFT project.
Only Up Grabs All the Spotlight on Twitch
Only Up is a PC game created by obscure independent developer SCKR Games, not “Up Only,” a well-known crypto degen term and the name of a well-liked podcast. It’s a 3D platform-hopping game that tests players to keep ascending while drawing inspiration from the well-known “Jack and the Beanstalk” tale. And they’ll do it in settings full of peculiar sights like floating orange and avocado halves and Shiba Inu pets.
The majority of detrimental reviews of players on the top PC marketplace Steam highlight the complicated gameplay and poor player mechanics. The strange vibe, however, is precisely the reason why Twitch streamers who are compelling tens of thousands of viewers with their torturous ascents through the world are favoring Only Up. The peculiar NFT collection from Goblintown empowered Only Up to remain in the spotlight this week.
Golbintown NFT Artwork Features in Only Up Game
With almost 109,000 total audiences on Twitch on Wednesday night, Only Up reached a new high. This included two well-known streamers, Agent00 and Mizkif, each had about 20,000 viewers. Only Up was one of the top 10 most-watched titles on the site with approximately 97,000 total views.
Along the way, viewers who are familiar with the Web3 world could notice something unexpected: there are a lot of Goblintown-related images and logos all over the place. Even the character’s attire has a Goblintown creature face on the back, and his t-shirt sports the project’s emblem.
As the NFT market began to disappear, the Goblintown Ethereum profile picture (PFP) project was introduced as a free mint in 2022. As makers and collectors both tackled declining prices and depressed spirits, the project — which sparked the embrace of toilet jokes and odd moaning across Twitter Spaces — fueled a brief wave of irrational NFT initiatives. According to data from CryptoSlam, Goblintown generated more than $101 million in secondary trading activity after the free mint.
SCKR Games Launched Only Up
It’s unknown whether SCKR Games and Goblintown maker Truth Labs worked together to incorporate project artwork into the game. Anyone may use the artwork for commercial purposes without asking permission since Goblintown was made available under an open-source, Creative Commons 0 (CC0) license. This includes those who don’t own any of the NFTs.
The project received a few tweets from the official Goblintown Twitter account, featuring one with several pictures and the glitchy, garbled words “Tenk u SCKR Games for putin’ goblins in ur game Only Up.” The Twitter account has also published a lot of tweets from the community on the game and its sudden progress to fame.
We tried to inquire from Truth Labs and SCKR Games to find out if the groups had collaborated, but neither party responded right away.
About Goblintown NFT
The Goblintown NFT project couldn’t have been released at a much better moment given the current state of the crypto markets in Goblin Town. The Goblintown is a collection of 10,000 NFTs that features a wide variety of hideous monsters that you may imagine living in Goblin Town. This can include Kevin (from Pixelmon), trolls, dragons, wizards, and bugs. You read it right, Kevin is considered the most notable one in Goblin Town. Without a doubt, each Goblintown NFT has its special qualities and features, with 12 of them being one-of-a-kind NFTs.
Feel free to take a look at Rarity Sniper’s collection of the weirdest and maybe most expensive Goblins if you’ve decided to indulge your eyes.
Who truly created Goblintown is still a mystery because all of the NFTs’ developers haven’t been disclosed. Fortunately, all of the NFTs in Goblintown are CC0s (creative common zeros). Hence, the complete NFT collection is not subject to any copyright restrictions. As a result, you are free to select how to market your NFTs. During the first stages of an NFT initiative, the majority of the founders will remain unidentified. Ultimately, we only know that the NFT collection on OpenSea was made by the King of The Goblin.
